Synod is a 5-piece rock band from Chicago. Founding members John Strege, Paul Rogner and Craig Rutz organized the band at Concordia University Chicago in 1971, and the band has continued to entertain audiences for 38 years,
taking time out for meals and an occasional shower. "Newer" members Karen Steltman-McBride and Jim Nier
are well into their second decade as part of the SYNOD experience.
Having lived through or just plain outlived the musical trends of three and a half decades, SYNOD remains as strong as ever.

There is no substitute for live music. A great band translates music into powerful emotion and gets people on their feet.
These five experienced musicians have proven that fact in 11 states and at hundreds and hundreds of shows. From the raw power of rock and roll to the thoughtful nuance of a love song, each individual adds an element to SYNOD's musical chemistry.
